Camp Olowalu offers four affordable camping alternatives. Choose to sleep on one of 35 campsites, 21 Tentalows, in your own vehicle or with your group in our 6 cabins group setup. You’re clearly an adventure seeker and will enjoy Hawaii’s climate, vegetation and surrounding ocean. Take a journey from the bottom of the sea to the top of Haleakala crater. Experience the peaceful yet invigorating adventures of seasonal whale watching, snorkeling, and kayaking right off our beachfront property or venture out to explore Maui’s tropical beauty.
The trustees of the Liliuokalani Trust set aside land to be used, in perpetuity, for the benefit of Native Hawaiian children so that they may enjoy an ohana-oriented camping experience. Located between Kailua-Kona town and Honokohau Harbor are two campgrounds nestled along the Keahuolu shoreline. Halepao is a sandy beach surrounded by a grove of milo trees with a swimming area and tide pools. Hiiakanoholae is a sandy beach to the north of Halepao with tide pools, blowholes, and deep ocean waters.

Choose between tent camping on one of 25 campsites, a Tentalow, or one of our eight bungalows (cabins), vehicle camping and last but not least stay in one of our 4 yurts. Kumu Camp is available year-round, for retreats and over-night stays. Many families simply stay at the Kumu Camp to enjoy the beautiful rural setting and to experience the great outdoors, night skies, the drum of the ocean and the calm and peace of Kauai.
