Hike-in tent-only campsite Often described as an oasis in the metropolitan Orlando area, Hal Scott Regional Preserve and Park is a favorite for its 17 miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding and bicycling, as well as its abundant wildlife and primitive tent-only camping. Hike-In Campsite 2 (locally nicknamed the Yates campsite) is located on the yellow trail, about a 2-mile hike from the parking area on Dallas Boulevard. Visitors will enjoy hiking or biking the trails and crossing the small bridge over the scenic Econlockhatchee River to reach the reservation-only backcountry campsites. The campsite is remote with no motorized vehicle access allowed. Reservations are required. This campsite has a fire ring with grill, picnic table and benches. Nearby is a non-potable water pitcher pump. Reservations may be made up to 90 days in advance and must be made at least 48 hours in advance. Maximum occupancy is six people. Maximum length of stay is 7 consecutive days. Important: RVs and campers, ATVs, UTVs and dirt bikes are prohibited at Hal Scott Regional Preserve and Park. Motorcycles cannot be ridden to the hike-in campsites. For more information about the property or for maps, visit www.sjrwmd.com/lands/recreation/hal-scott/.
