The Buck Lake Boat Ramp is a popular unimproved launch area with two permits available each day. Use of the launches requires reservations to be made before 6 a.m. at least 48 hours prior to the reservation date. Reservations may be made up to 90 days in advance. Boaters are allowed one permit per week and two weekend days per month (per person, boat and vehicle). Permits are not available during hunt seasons. Each reservation is for one day at a time ; reservations may not span more than one day, and multi-day reservations will be administratively modified or canceled. Reservations require vehicle make, model and license plate number and boat trailer license plate number. An accurate vehicle permit with this information must be visible in the dash of the vehicle while visiting the boat ramp. User is responsible for completing all sections of the reservation. Permitholders are allowed to drive one vehicle with a boat and trailer to and from the ramp area to the gate during daytime hours only. Airboats, swamp buggies and use of outboard motors larger than 40 horsepower are prohibited. Boat ramp permits do not grant permission to drive anywhere else on the property, nor do they grant permission for nighttime motor vehicle access or camping. A separate camping reservation is required for persons wishing to camp overnight in the campsite nearby. Access to the lake is from the western parking area on the north side of State Road 46 in Mims.
